Dear Ms. Simard,
I am a constituent of your riding. I’m writing to you to implore you to advocate for the residents, citizens and business owners of East Hawkesbury.
I am deeply concerned for all of us, individually and collectively. We are suffering enormously because of the measures the Ontario government and its health units have taken in response to the pandemic. These measures have introduced sweeping and uncritical violations of our charter rights and are also causing irreversible harm. My deepest concern is for the children and for the future of our society. I apologize for the length of my letter. I had intended to keep it brief.
In East Hawkesbury, until very recently, we had 0 covid “cases”. After 11 months, we now stand at 1 case. For this threat that has so far failed to materialize in our community, we have been locked in and shut down. Seniors have died alone, weddings have been postponed, people have gone without medical treatment, children have been masked and forced to spend hours daily in front of screens. Our society will suffer the effects on their sacrificed education and social development for years to come.
How is it possible that East Hawkesbury has seen only 1 case? It would be folly to believe that people in our area have followed the guidelines to the letter (I assure you, my friends and family have not), or that we have not travelled out of the area (we shop in Hawkesbury, Rigaud and Vaudreuil, travel regularly to Montreal and Cornwall). What surpasses folly is the insane assertion that the restrictions imposed on us have been justified. We have seen one single case — a fact which in no way signifies the person was ill, hospitalized or at risk of premature death. For this, many thousands of East Hawkesbury residents have suffered in myriad other ways.
I have sought to find answers, to discover the justification for this unprecedented suffering inflicted upon us, and have come up empty. I urge you, please, to bring these questions to Premier Ford and to insist on satisfactory answers and action.
Where is the virus? The virus has never been proven to exist (this extensive report presents the results of multiple FOIA attempts to secure proof that it has been purified and isolated). Not even Ontario has proof of its existence, but let’s leave that aside. The evidence in support of PCR testing, lockdowns, masks, and the experimental biological agent masquerading as a vaccine must immediately be reviewed, as it too is non-existent.
Where do the numbers come from? The PCR test is not fit for purpose; its continued use has created a “casedemic” that obscures the reality of the situation and drives panic.
The original Drosten paper that proposed PCR testing has been criticized worldwide, with courts ruling against it and requests for it to be retracted.
Just this week, the WHO issued additional information on its guidance admitting that a positive PCR test without clinical symptoms is not an infection.
When running PCR at a high cycle threshold positive results are meaningless. Much of the testing done in Canada is above the recommended cycle threshold.
Stay home? Lockdowns have caused and continue to cause magnitudes more harm than anyone can pretend they mitigate. The harms range from financial harms due to business closures, unemployment and lost income to depression and mental health problems, substance abuse, domestic and child abuse and a general decline in social and community cohesion. The lockdown measures are based on projections and models that have repeatedly been wrong.
Mask up? Masks cause health problems from facial rashes to bacterial infections, present risks from breathing in mask particles, and are being shown to actually nebulize aerosols, aiding viral particles to penetrate deep into the lungs. (Please browse through Robin Monotti’s tweets.) Perhaps there’s a reason the implementation of mask mandates is often followed by an increase in cases.
In addition, the social and psychological effects are undeniable, as is the impediment to communication and the opportunity for harassment and discrimination against those who are exempt from mask rules. For babies and young children, the developmental damage of seeing everywhere the expressionless blank faces of mask-wearers is incalculable. “Cases” aren’t rampant in schools, and yet against all logic, children are forced to wear masks in school. Sick Kids recently advised against school closures, and yet kids at our local school will not be returning to in class learning next week.
I withdrew my 10 year old daughter from school this fall to homeschool her precisely because I did not want to inflict on her the harm of wearing a mask, and I do not want this abomination to become normalized for her. I also do not want to be coerced into agreeing to give her an experimental, rushed and ineffective gene-modifying “vaccine.”
My daughter’s emotional distress, fear and sadness are increasing with every passing week. At bedtime every night she seeks reassurance.
“Is this what the rest of my life will be like?”
“Will covid ever end?”
“I miss seeing people.”
“Maybe by next Christmas it will be over.”
I’m running out of things to say to ease her mind. The officials calling the shots have lost credibility; they are now actively complicit in causing harm — they can no longer plausibly deny they know the truth — and I refuse to echo their tired words. I refuse to lose credibility with my child. I can only try to prepare her, help her develop mental resilience, because I do not believe this situation will be resolved without a fight.
My son, who is 18, has spent close to a year at home watching shows and playing video games. First, his trade schooling was stalled and delayed, then his driver’s license test, which effectively made it impossible for him to get a job. Now, the basic military qualification he is pursuing as a Reservist has been put on hold. For a young man ready and eager to participate in society and the workforce, ready for life, this has been a year in suspended animation.
It is a cruel punishment to inflict on the young that they must cease to flourish and grow to “save” the most elderly and frail. This defies the natural order of things. It defies logic and common sense to sacrifice the young to save the old. Likewise, it is a cruel punishment to isolate the old and deprive them of their children and grandchildren, this embodiment of hope and continued life, in what could be and has for many been their last months, weeks and days.
I am lucky to have a happy family; we mostly get along, though the stress is getting to us all. We are lucky that my husband and I both work from home, and for now are not in danger of losing our jobs. We are lucky in many ways, and yet we are suffering the effects of what I can only describe as medical and political tyranny. There’s an unspoken mental anguish that permeates our days, despite our fortunate circumstances. I can only imagine how it is for people in worse situations than us.
I implore you. Please examine the information and opinions provided by unbiased, objective experts, those who have nothing to lose by speaking the truth. Find it in yourself to fight for us and for future generations. You wouldn’t be alone. There is a growing movement of scientists, doctors, politicians and citizens taking action. We need people like you with courageous hearts to do what’s right.
Please help us fight our way out of this disaster.
Update: I received an email reply from MPP Simard's office saying that they will forward my email to the Minister of Health and report back with any information they receive. (Small wins!)
Fabulous, perfectly composed arguments. I’m super proud of you! 🥰
